About Global Grassroots

Global Grassroots is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing a more conscious approach to social change, with a focus on women and girls. Our core program is our Academy for Conscious Change, a social venture incubator that catalyzes change agents among vulnerable women and girls in post-conflict countries who wish to launch their own grassroots organizations benefiting women and girls. The Academy lasts an average of 18 months, and offers experiential training in mind-body trauma healing, conscious leadership practices, social entrepreneurship skills, seed funding, and high engagement coaching to ensure each new venture is designed to be sustainable and have a measurable social impact. Since 2006, we have trained 500 emerging change agents, who have launched civil society organizations serving tens of thousands of other vulnerable women and girls annually in Africa, Asia and North America. Our graduates work on a diverse range of issues, such as domestic violence, sexual exploitation, girls' education, reproductive health, water access, alcoholism, property rights and illiteracy. Conscious Social Change is the intersection of leadership, mindfulness and social entrepreneurship. It is an approach whereby individuals invest in their own self-understanding so that they may initiate social change mindfully and compassionately with an understanding of how to embody the change they want to see in the world. It is a methodology whereby change agents leverage their own assets, gifts and passions to benefit the common good, while also honoring the wisdom and ideas of those they aim to serve. It employs design tools that ensure solutions are innovative, sustainable and impactful at the systemic and root levels of a social issue. It is a process where continual inner and outer transformation strives to advance a whole, just and compassionate society.
